Will Your Heirs Know Exactly What They Are Inheriting?

Bespoke holding arrangements, family foundations, and cross-border frameworks that eliminate ambiguity and protect wealth across generations in Central Europe.

Clarity of Ownership Is the First Form of Protection

The most carefully managed investment portfolio can be undone in a single generation by unclear ownership documentation, disputed succession arrangements, or an inappropriate holding structure. Alpine Atelier works with private clients to design wealth structures that answer three fundamental questions clearly: who owns what, under which legal framework, and what happens next. Our work in this area draws on more than a decade of Central European practice and involves close collaboration with qualified Slovak and EU lawyers. We focus on clarity and durability — the structures we recommend are ones that a competent lawyer, notary, or tax authority can read and understand without a 40-page explanatory memo.

Structure Types We Work With

We do not advocate for a single structure type. The right arrangement depends on asset mix, family complexity, and cross-border considerations.

Slovak Holding Companies

A Slovak s.r.o. or a.s. holding structure can consolidate real estate, business interests, and financial assets under a single legal entity, simplifying annual reporting and providing a defined ownership chain for succession purposes.

Family Foundations

EU family foundation structures provide a non-profit-purpose vehicle for long-term family wealth, separating the asset from any individual's estate while preserving the family's ability to benefit from it across multiple generations. We advise on Slovak and Austrian foundation frameworks.

Cross-Border Arrangements

For clients with assets in multiple EU jurisdictions, we map the applicable tax treaties and regulatory requirements and recommend a coherent holding architecture that avoids unintended double-taxation or beneficial-ownership conflicts.

Where Our Role Ends

Alpine Atelier is an advisory practice, not a law firm. We do not draft legal documents, form companies, or act as a registered trustee or nominee director. Everything we recommend is implemented by qualified Slovak or EU legal professionals, and we coordinate that process on your behalf. We also do not design structures whose primary purpose is tax minimisation rather than genuine asset protection — and we decline mandates that we believe are likely to attract regulatory scrutiny for that reason. Clients who want aggressive tax planning should engage a specialist tax firm directly.

“My father left three properties, a business interest, and several brokerage accounts across two countries with no clear structure. Alpine Atelier spent four months working with our lawyer to map the entire estate and propose a holding architecture that my siblings and I could all agree on. For the first time in two years, we had a single document that explained everything clearly.”
